Who Needs Glastonbury Anyway?

Well, another year, another desperate scramble for Glastonbury tickets.

The UK music festival’s 2024 edition sold out in around 25 minutes when they first went on sale late last year, with organisers quickly thanking those who grabbed one and apologising to those who missed out “…on a morning when demand greatly exceeded supply."

It’s not surprising really - it’s the same story every year. For a bit of context, around 2.5 million people tried to get a ticket for Glastonbury 2023. 210,000 tickets were available.

There’s a small re-sale event held in the spring to give people a (slim) second chance, but alas, that’s now over for this year too.

Still, all is not lost!

The UK festival scene is bursting with choice, and with most lacking the juggernaut status of Glastonbury, tickets are nowhere near as hard to come by.

Imminent festivals such as The Great Escape in Brighton and Derbyshire’s Bearded Theory, which both take place in May, are of note. As are July’s Love Supreme in South Downs, Secret Garden Party in East Anglia, and Hertfordshire’s El Dorado, which all offer up strong Glastonbury vibes with their focus on art, psychedelia, hedonism and tents.

July also sees the return of Latitude in Suffolk, which is always a popular one. And the likes of Boomtown, Green Man and many others aren’t far behind it.

The UK is awash with festivals, so if you didn’t manage to get your Glasto tickets, don’t fret. There are plenty more worthwhile events to choose from.
